Here’s what’s piled up in my reader:

  • The collaboration economy « BuzzMachine – "But in the collaborative economy, its another matter. All those extra people add new value and efficiency if you see the opportunity in it and enable them to. Theyre us."
  • Five reasons corporations are failing at social media – "In Shiv Singhs presentation, he discussed how the customer should be at the core of the brand. When policies, procedures, products and processes become more important than the customer, theres no way social media efforts can be effective. When your employees are more concerned with whats in or out of their job description than doing the right thing to help the customer, thats not a culture thats likely to build trust and advocacy for your brand."
  • Home | The Knight Commission on the Information Needs of Communities in a Democracy – Has anyone dug into this yet? Any thoughts you want to share?
  • Oakland Local | News for the people. – Congrats to the Oakland Local team for this launch. It's wonderful to see new models for sharing local news emerge.
  • The Technium: 1,000 True Fans – "To raise your sales out of the flatline of the long tail you need to connect with your True Fans directly. Another way to state this is, you need to convert a thousand Lesser Fans into a thousand True Fans." This sentiment, and the article as a whole, are extremely pertinent for social benefit efforts trying to understand how to break through the blizzard of causes.
