I’ve been pointing non-profits toward the Creative Commons section of Flickr for free (w/attribution) stock photography. For those who post news on a regular basis, they love this.
Have a look at the Relay for Lifeflickr group. Some great pictures. We hope to encourage more people to use it in the future in conjunction with other online resources. People within the American Cancer Society have already commented on the variety of photos compared to those taken by professional photographers. More commentary here
Kris, Good idea—pointing folks to creative commons part of the site. Do you have any examples of folks using the photos? That’s always great to point to.
Christopher, thanks to the point to the Relay for Life flickr group. That’s a terrific use of the tool! And really giving people an opportunity to share their viewpoint.
It was great to see you in person! Thanks for pointing this out—gonna go blog it—if I can get some caffeine in me. I’m zonked out from the weekend and the redeye … the blogher high.
Perfect timing! This just crystalized for me a way to convince two separate used-goods non-profits to blog. I’ll pass details if I sell them on the idea.
This site is written by Marnie Webb and, generally, is about issues of technology, social change, and serendipity. There's an occasional parent moment thrown in for good measure. Find out more.
