Nov 2, 12:28 am: Talk about behind in my memes
Back in April, Edward Vielmetti tagged me to take a stroll through my past. I’m just now catching up. Here goes:
One year ago, I was taking the plunge into Vice-Presidentdom at CompuMentor, the organization for which I still work. I’m still not sure what, exactly, a chief knowledge officer is supposed to do but I’ve got a better handle on how to view my mission than I did back then.
Five years ago, I was working with the County of San Francisco on a Centralized Childcare Eligibility List. And falling head over heels in love courtesy of an intro from one of my colleagues on the project.
Ten years ago, I was at the UCSD Bookstore as a buyer and working on the website (which looked nothing at all like the one you see today) and trying to decide if I should quit that technology thing to become a freelance fiction writer. Short stories, I thought, now that’s the future.
Fifteen years ago, I was working at Shakey’s Pizza in Chula Vista, CA, getting my first laptop and playing around with groups of writer’s on various forums — CompuServe, Delphi. It’s where I first got into that whole online community thing. WriteStuff, I find, is still lingering there online.
Twenty years ago, I was just out of high school and floundering around in a variety of majors at a variety of colleges. None of it really took.
