Sep 17, 03:21 pm: Recovery Resources for Hurricane Katrina-impacted nonprofits

TechSoup.org Katrina pulls together various pieces of information to help nonprofits impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
  • Technology Service Proivders provides list of people and companies who are able to help organizations in the impacted areas with technology. We got this list from a variety of resources, including TechFinder. We called the people on it to make sure that they are available and able to provide assistance.
  • IT Disaster Recovery – After the Fact is just what the title suggests. A guide to bringing your systems back up after you’ve been hit by a disaster. The document was pulled together from a variety of sources and we had the able assistance of three volunteers in completing it.

Both documents are going to be revised. The TechSoup page is the place to go for the latest, most up-to-date versions.

We’ve made this .pdfs and sent them to our partners in the area to encourage them to print the documents and had give them to nonprofits. I encourage anyone else who may be working with impacted organzations to make these materials available to them (including by hardcopy). And, of course, we’d love any comments, suggestions for improvement, or ideas about other materials that could assist organizations in need.
