Jun 6, 07:35 pm: Don't make discrimination constitutional
We don’t, you know. Make our own families. Lots of people meddle—and they are taking that meddling to new heights.
I’m a firm believer that the Federal Marriage Amendment is a get out the vote ploy. And, with that line of reasoning, saying stop helps to keep the conversation hot which can actually help the opposition. If that makes any kind of convoluted sense.
Like a lot of people, I get the broad scope of problems and the fact that, really, I’m pretty far removed from the worst of them. I’m sitting in my dining room just outside of the Napa Valley watching scrub jays and mocking birds flit to and from my apple trees. My commute is sitting on a ferry crossing the San Pablo and San Francisco bays. I carry 20 extra pounds — testament to the quality and quantity of food I eat. We have two cars.
I pay a mortgage and taxes and worry about health insurance and lament the high price of homes and the low quality of schools. I rant about fear mongering and MySpace doesn’t deserve as much concern as other places kids are likely to hang out.
I do all of those things.
And I do with them with and for my family. And I’d really appreciate — I’d really fucking appreciate — not being called out as unconstitutional.
